As a group project idea, I wanted to suggesthaving the students research a current controversial issue. After researching the issue and supporting their take on the issue, have the students list their arguments whether they chose the pro argument or whether they chose the con.  Then have them right apaper with researched support to argue the opposite of their first paper.  They should include a reflection of how researching both sides of the argument changed or strengthened their original position.
