| | Info-tainment Analysis This project would analyze today's "info-tainment" culture and its iconic "worship" of current pop stars in contrast to the media attention given to performers of previous generations. Actors, singers, comedians, and musicians of "then" and "now" have elicited a public following. But things are different today.
What modes have changed in the media? How have changing modes of communication/media affected the iconic, seemingly insatiable cultural "need to know" related to modern pop culture figures? How is the past different than now because of changing communications in a digital world?
Newspapers, radio and traditional t.v. were one thing. The internet, digital media, remote wireless satellite links are another thing. Students could support the differences they uncover with research. They might also analyze what this change says about society today as opposed to what it said in the past. | |
