Orientation –
I really enjoyed orientation. Or rather, I didn’t feel as much like I was going to have a panic attack the first day of school because I’d gone through orientation. I’d like to make a small suggestion, however, to make it even awesome – oh yes, I went ‘there’.
The hardest part, for me, was deciding what projects to teach. I read over the descriptions and some of them were confusing to me, but some of them made perfect sense; so when time came to discuss the projects and each project was segregated away from each other, I ended up picking the projects I understood the best. Then, in practicum a few weeks ago, we had some of the other teachers come in and present their favorite project back-to-back and so my idea was born: is there any way that there can be one general presentation of each project for the whole group at orientation? There were at least two projects where I wanted to hear multiple presentations and wasn’t able to.
My second suggestion is to let us collaborate on what to do in groups according to our project type like we did in practicum during orientation. By the time we got around to brainstorming, in most cases, I was too far ahead for it to be of any use other than to say ‘well I’ll use that next time’.
In summary: I want more exposure to ALL of the project ideas, and I want more exposure to the ideas of my peers.
The End.
