You have numerous options for your group project:
- Consider developing a writing project that teachers in the writing program could use. Typically, a writing project would be about a page or so long; would include another page or so of a sample plan for teaching a project; and would include some sample readings to help inspire students. If you choose this option, please consult http://collegewriting.us/FrontPageDocuments/CreateNewProjects.aspx
- Consider improving the collegewriting or TC Web sites. I would be glad to meet with any group that is interested in learning more about using the various software tools that we employ to develop our websites.
- Perhaps a group could deal with usability issues.
- Perhaps a group could add readings to our projects.
- Consider developing a webpage to help expedite some pedagogical strategy. The media of this sort of approach could be a wiki or a PowerPoint presentation or a SharePoint page. Here for example if a PowerPoint presentation that I did a while back: http://waw.taa.usf.edu/sites/waw/Presentations/DraftofRevisingStrategies.ppt
- We know for example that creating effective peer groups is a difficult challenge. It's clear that some of us are more effective than others and that we can all learn from one another when it comes to creating effective peer groups. At the collegewriting site, we have a variety of forms that can be used by classroom teachers to expedite peer review but it's apparent that other resources are necessary. Perhaps a group could develop some podcasts that are targeted toward students. Or perhaps someone could set up a tutorial on how to do peer review outside the writing classroom.
- Conduct an investigation into the practices of other large writing programs. Report on what we can do differently to better meet student needs.
